The obvious choice

Villages around Ghisonaccia

Experiencing authenticity

The region is home to a variety of authentic villages, between sea and mountains. Aleria, an ancient Roman city, attracts visitors with its archaeological site and museum, as well as its renowned vineyards, citrus orchards, Diana and Urbinu lakes and seafood. A little further south, Solenzara marks the natural border between Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud, between secluded coves and sheer cliffs. An hour's drive away, you can choose between the authentic and majestic Corte and the livelier Porto-Vecchio, ideal for a shopping spree or a visit to the citadel and legendary beaches.

Beneath the summits

From Ghisonaccia, the foothills of the Corsican mountains can be reached in less than an hour. Take the Route de Ghisoni to reach the heights, between Corsican-pine forests, sheepfolds and torrents. Hiking enthusiasts will find plenty to delight on the Cuscione plateau or in the Restonica gorges. And for a refreshingly sporty day out, explore the region's natural pools for some guaranteed thrills.

Pinia forest

At the heart of unspoilt nature, the Perla campsite lies just beyond the magnificent Pinia forest, protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral association. Here, everything invites you to get away from it all: enjoy a swim on a wild beach stretching out over several kilometres, go for a walk or cycle ride under the pine trees, observe the wildlife around the Urbinu lake or recharge your batteries on the fitness trail for some outdoor sporting activities. A true paradise for nature lovers.

The calm of the lakes

For those who like to take to the heights, the high-altitude lakes offer simply breathtaking scenery. From Ghisonaccia, set off to discover the Bastani lake, perched at an altitude of over 2,000 metres at the foot of Monte Renoso. Accessible via a pleasant hike, it reveals a spectacular mineral setting, between eternal snow and absolute silence. The wilder Rina lake, nestling in the heights of the region, promises a real immersion in nature, with Corsican pines, the freshest air and the sky's reflections. Another, intimate yet spectacular, side of eastern Corsica.
